Zanesville, Ohio Native and Maysville High School Student-Athlete Travis Norman, 17, Dies in a Car Accident

The Zanesville, Ohio, community is mourning the untimely death of beloved native and high school student-athlete, Travis Norman.
Travis Allen Norman Jr. died on Sunday, December 14, 2026, from injuries sustained in a devastating car accident on Saturday, December 13. He was 17 years old.
While very little information about the tragic accident is available, Travis was admitted to Grant Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries at 5:33 P.M.
Born on August 7, 2008, in Zanesville, Ohio, Travis Norman was a cherished member of Zanesville’s sports community and touched the lives of many with his kind and cheerful nature.
Travis was a junior student-athlete at Maysville High School. He played for the boys’ basketball team and led his team to several victories during middle school.
Norman was also enrolled in the Pathways Engineering program, participating in a mentorship with Miba LLC at Maysville High School, and was attending Zane State College through their College Credit Plus Program.
Additionally, Travis Jr. loved outdoor activities and enjoyed F1 racing, horseback riding, and boating at Buckeye Lake.
Social Media is Filled With Heartfelt Tributes To Late Travis Norman
The untimely death of Travis Norman Jr. has left his family, friends, and loved ones devastated.
Many of his loved ones are sharing Travis’ memories on social media and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.
Maysville Local School District shared a post on social media expressing its sorrow at losing its beloved student-athlete.
The post reads:
“It is with deep sadness that we share that one of our students, Travis Norman, an 11th-grade student at Maysville High School, passed away yesterday as a result of a car accident that took place on Saturday. Our hearts are heavy as we extend our deepest condolences to Travis’ family, friends and all who knew and loved him.Please continue to keep the Norman family and those closest to them in your thoughts as we come together as a school community to extend support to one another.”
Maysville Local School DistrictSimilarly, one wrote:
“I have no words….my heart has been so heavy since we heard the news….Trav has always been one of my favorite boys….sweetest, smartest, kindest young man. Ty was blessed to be able to have so many great memories with you baby and to have you as a friend.”
Elyse Danielle JenningsAnother added:
“My heart is just broken and hurting so bad for his parents, siblings, family and friends😔 Had his entire life ahead of him and was always such a sweet kid! So many fun times spent on the basketball team with the boys every weekend for allstars, memories we all will cherish forever💔Rest in peace buddy. Prayers for Travis and Kim as they are living a parents worst nightmare🙏”

Travis Noman is survived by his beloved parents, Travis Norman Sr. and Kimberly Joyce Norman, his twin brother and sister, Mason and McKenna Norman, his older sister, Destiny Wallace, his maternal grandparents, Tony and Sue Joyce, numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins, his loving girlfriend, and the entire family.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond Norman and Cindy Edwards, and maternal aunt, Amy Jo Joyce.
Travis’ family has organized a memorial service on Thursday, December 28, 2026, from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2026, at the Wings of Hope Tabernacle, 709 Lee Street, Zanesville, Ohio. Burial will take place at Williams Cemetery, Zanesville.
Travis Norman Jr.’s joyful nature and his amazing athletic skills will always be remembered by his family and loved ones.
