Holly Dawn Smith Markins, the mother of Ironton High School basketball player Bryce Markins, tragically passed away at the age of 42.

Her son, Bryce Markins, is a student-athlete at Ironton High School (Ohio), playing varsity basketball as a guard (jersey #10).

He is listed as a senior in the class of 2026, standing 5’10” and weighing 150 lbs.

Standout guard for the Ironton Fighting Tigers basketball team, he is recognized for his sharp shooting and consistent contributions on the court.

Bryce has built a reputation as one of the team’s reliable scorers, averaging nearly nine points per game and ranking among the Ohio Valley’s leaders in three-point shooting.

Additionally, in 2026, he competed against athletes from 11 schools and placed 1st in all three events: the 1600 meters, the 800 meters, and the 4×400 relay.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Bryce is also a student at Ironton High, balancing academics with his commitment to sports.

With his 2026 graduation, he stands out as one of the promising athletes from the Ohio Valley Conference.

Holly Markins Is Survived by her Loving Husband and Two Sons!

Holly Dawn Smith Markins, the mother of Bryce Markins, grew up in the Ironton community.

She studied for her Master of Social Work (MSW) at Ohio University from 2008 to 2009.

Holly grew up in Ironton, Ohio, and was living a happy life with her husband and two sons.

Six months ago, she attended Bryce’s graduation along with her husband and children, celebrating his achievements with pride.

Tragically, she passed away, leaving behind her husband, Alex, sons, Bryce and Ace, and an extended family.

Her sudden passing has been described as a huge shock, with loved ones asking for prayers and support for her family during this difficult time.

Friends and neighbors have shared heartfelt tributes on social media, remembering her as one of the sweetest and kindest people they have ever known.

One of Markin’s well-wishers expressed her sadness, writing:

So sad to see this tonight!! Holly was one of the nicest people you could ever meet!! She will be greatly missed by everyone!!! Sending lots of Prayers to her family!!!

Likewise, another shared an emotional tribute, writing:

Holly Dawn Smith Markins went home to be with Jesus yesterday. My kids and I have known her most of her life, we lived next door to Holly on 3rd street. She and my kids grew up together, Holly is only 42…please sincerely pray for them and the rest of her family. This is a huge shock to everyone, not only to her husband and sons but also to her mother and two brothers and many more that love her. So please pray for her family for many days and months to come. Holly will always own a piece of my heart and I will never forget her beautiful smile as you can see in this picture. Susie loves you doll baby, I always have.
