Jordan’s athletic achievement sparked a heartfelt Facebook post from his proud father, Lorenzo Spencer.

Lorenzo shows a reality in the sport, noting that across roughly 1,600 college baseball programs, Black players comprise only about 5% of NCAA rosters.

Despite these obstacles, Jordan’s accomplishment is an example of his determination.

I almost cried seeing my baby boy on a college baseball roster! He worked hard for it. There are roughly 1600 college baseball programs including NAIA and JUCO. Black players only make up 5% of NCAA college baseball at all divisions.
BE GREAT SON! Thank you to the VILLAGE!

Lorenzo Spencer

Lorenzo’s post gained wide attention and drew an outpouring of congratulations from community members, friends, and strangers.

Jordan’s journey is a beacon of representation and possibility for young Black athletes across the country. He is an inspiration for the next generation.
