Belleville and Verona, NJ, Community Mourns Baseball Coach And Former Athlete John V. Auriemma, Survived By Wife Janet And Their Two Sons

The Belleville and Verona, New Jersey, community mourns the untimely death of beloved native and longtime baseball coach, John V. Auriemma.
John V. Auriemma passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2026; however, his family hasn’t yet revealed the details surrounding his untimely death.
Born in Belleville, New Jersey, John Auriemma touched the lives of many with his amazing athletic and coaching skills and his kind-hearted nature.
He was a cherished member of the sports community in Belleville and Verona, New Jersey, and served as a youth baseball coach, leading his team to several victories.
Before winning the hearts of many as a remarkable coach, John built his reputation in the community as an exceptional athlete who played multiple sports at Belleville High School.
After graduating from Belleville High School, he continued his academic journey by attending Montclair State University and also worked as a physician in Monmouth County, New Jersey.
He was also serving as a devoted employee at Verizon until his recent passing.
Although John Auriemma didn’t pursue a career as a professional player, his love and passion for sports were immense, inspiring and guiding youth athletes in their careers.
Furthermore, many of John’s loved ones are sharing his memories on social media and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family as they navigate the loss.
One wrote:
“I am beyond heartbroken and devastated. I just absolutely cannot believe it! RIP to the now late great John V. Auriemma, a dear longtime friend and my legendary Belleville Recreation Youth Baseball Coaching rival. John, I considered you a brother to me. We had so much fun coaching against each other in the mid 90s
and busting each other’s chops left and right during those amazing years.”
Another added:
“I still can’t wrap my head around this, there are really no words – losing a friend hits different – hits hard💔💔
You will be forever missed John V Auriemma and our get togethers will never be the same. There will always be a seat saved in your memory at our table ❤️”
The Verona, New Jersey, community has also created a GoFundMe to ease the financial burden on his family and cover the funeral and memorial expenses.
John V. Auriemma is Survived By His Wife, Janet, Two Kids, and The Entire Family
John V. Auriemma was not just an amazing coach but also a devoted husband to his longtime wife, Janet Reiman Auriemma.
The couple were high school sweethearts and were happily married for 21 years.
Although Janet hasn’t released any statement regarding the untimely death of her longtime husband, John Auriemma, she often shares his pictures on social media, expressing her love and pride.
Like John Auriemma, his wife, Janet, is also an exceptional athlete participating in several softball and tennis leagues in the community.
John was Janet’s biggest cheerleader and never missed her games.
Furthermore, John and Janet Auriemma instilled a love and passion for sports in their two sons, Jaye and Jarrett, both exceptional athletes.
John served as Jaye and Jarrett’s first coach. His son, Jaye Auriemma, who recently graduated from Verona High School, played multiple sports.
Jaye played lacrosse for the boys’ team. Wearing jersey #17, he played as a Midfielder and led his team in several victories.
In addition to his wife and sons, John Auriemma is survived by his siblings, Nicholas, Paul, and Diane, and the entire family.
The family has organized a funeral and memorial service for the late John Auriemma at Prout Funeral Home in Verona, New Jersey, on Wednesday, December 3, 2026, from 3 to 7 PM.
