A Tragic Accident Took the Lives of Both Father and Son, Leaving Their Family Heartbroken!
Christopher J. Jankoviak, aka Chris, a resident of Niles, Michigan, and his son Johnny were beloved members of the HTBL community.
They were active members of the Mishawaka Christian Athletic Club, a Michigan-based team.
Chris was a part of the homeschool basketball community, where he coached and supported young athletes.
Additionally, he also coached youth baseball, including the Majors team where his son Johnny played.
On the other hand, his son, Johnny, was a dedicated player and a part of the homeschool basketball community, competing in tournaments.
Moreover, he also played baseball under his father’s coaching.
Their involvement in youth sports left lasting impressions and built bonds that extended far beyond the game.
On the day of the accident, Christopher and his son Johnny were traveling to the Crossroads Clash tournament, where Johnny was set to play.
Tragically, their journey ended in heartbreak when a collision claimed both of their lives; first, Christopher at the scene, and later his son Johnny, who passed away in the hospital after being placed on life support.
This tragic news has left the HTBL family and the wider community heartbroken, as their absence touches so many lives.
The league has extended its deepest condolences to the Jankoviak family, recognizing the grief that reaches across countless families connected to them.
Friends and teammates are encouraged to share stories, memories, and photos to honor their lives and keep their spirit alive within the community.
In response to the tragedy, a fundraiser campaign was created on GiveSendGo to support the Jankoviak family after the tragic deaths of Christopher and his son, Johnny.
It was organized by members of the homeschool basketball community, who described the loss as “unimaginable” and sought to rally support for the family.
The campaign’s primary goal is to help the Jankoviak family with funeral expenses and other immediate needs.
Mandy Holtgren Jankoviak, the beloved wife of Christopher and mother of Johnny and their other children, has asked for privacy as the family grieves this immense loss.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Jankoviak’s family, friends, and well-wishers.
Rest In Peace, Chris and Johnny!
