Tim Kennedy, the retired MMA fighter and Green Beret, is married to Ginger Kennedy. The couple has been together for almost eighteen years.

They met at Fort Bragg, where Ginger worked for a government contracting company managing military equipment, and have raised two children together. Tim also has two daughters from previous relationships.

He recalls a funny exchange he had with his wife, probably due to his military background, “That’s a Russian spy. There’s no way that a supermodel of a human exists in this world.”

A Multi-skilled Individual and a Family-Man

After enlisting in the U.S. Army, Tim served with the 7th Special Forces Group, earning numerous honors including the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

The MMA Veteran, whose career spanned over 15 years from 2001 to 2016, competed in top promotions like Strikeforce and WEC, in addition to the UFC.

Tim Kennedy made his professional MMA debut in 2001. In Professional MMA, he had 18wins and recorded 6 losses.

After serving five years in the UFC, making just five appearances, and having a 60% Win rate, he retired from MMA on January 17, 2017.

During his time at the UFC, he was honored with Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night honors as well.

The announcement was made following his loss to Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 206 in December 2016.

After retiring, he has kept himself busy doing TV and Media Works, Tactical Consulting, Entrepreneurship, and Advocacy.

Despite working in different fields simultaneously, Tim always makes time for his family, whether it’s joking around, cosplaying with his son, playing ice hockey, surfing, or taking them to shooting practices.

In one instance, Tim shared a humorous exchange with Ginger, where she said, “I will kick you right in the t*sticles,” to which he responded, “Fortunately, you can see exactly where they are at.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • Tim Kennedy made his professional MMA debut in 2001. His first recorded fight was against Jason Miller at Extreme Challenge 50 on February 23, 2003.
  • In August 2009, Kennedy transitioned from active duty to the Texas Army National Guard.
  • Tim is also a black belt holder in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
