Former Bluefield State University Soccer Standout Rachel Major Joins Cambridge Football Club as Women’s First Team Assistant Coach

Rachel Major, a proud alum of Bluefield State University, takes the role of Assistant Coach for Cambridge FC Women’s First Team.
A native of Hamilton, New Zealand, Rachel Major has touched the lives of many through her remarkable sports career, first as an athlete and now as an accomplished coach.
Recently, in January 2026, Rachel Major began her role as the assistant coach for the 2026 Women’s 1st Team at Cambridge Football Club.
Furthermore, Rachel Major joins the club, bringing a high-level playing experience and proven leadership in coaching wrote Cambridge Football Club on their official site.
“Cambridge Football Club is pleased to announce that Rachel Major has been appointed as our women’s assistant coach for the 2026 Season, along side Scott out 1st Team Women are in great hands. Rachel’s qualifications and all round football standards are asset to our female players.”
CambridgeFootballRachel has had a remarkable journey as a soccer/football player, having played in the National Women’s League football and futsal for WaiBOP and at Bluefield State University in the United States.
While at BSU, Rachel played for the women’s soccer team as a defender. Standing 5’10” tall and wearing #4, she led her team in several victories throughout her career.
Prior to BSU, Rachel Major played for the Hamilton Wanderers Women’s 1st team.
Rachel began her athletic career at Waikato Diocesan School in New Zealand, where she won several honorable titles throughout her journey.
With experience in various coaching roles across youth and schools, Rachel has also returned to her alma mater, Waikato Diocesan School, to serve as the 1st XI football coach.
Waikato Diocesan School took to its official social media on February 8, 2026, to announce the news, expressing excitement about having its former star player return as a coach.
Alongside Rachel Major, Waikato Diocesan School for Girls is also thrilled to welcome Irene Gubb as Premier Netball Coach, Carla Johl as 1st XI Hockey Coach, and Emma-Lee Rowe as Junior Netball Head Coach.
