Robert Slisz was both a teacher and the boys’ varsity basketball coach at Pine Valley Central School District in Chautauqua County, New York.

His dual role placed him in a position of influence over students academically and athletically.

Throughout this role, he was responsible for guiding classroom learning as well as leading the school’s basketball program.

According to local reporting, Slisz had been employed by Pine Valley as a teacher and coach prior to the allegations that surfaced in December 2026.

On December 3, 2026, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from the Pine Valley School District regarding Robert Slisz, a 33‑year‑old teacher and basketball coach from Hamburg.

Following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division, Slisz was charged with Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, Forcible Touching, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

He later turned himself in at the Chautauqua County Jail for CAP arraignment and is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Cherry Creek Court.

The allegations have raised serious concerns within the community, leading to immediate administrative action and ongoing law enforcement proceedings.

Pine Valley Superintendent Shanda DuClon Addresses Teacher’s Arrest, Urges Community Cooperation in Sexual Abuse Case!

The Public page addressed this matter publicly through a Facebook post authored by Superintendent Shanda DuClon.

In the statement, the district confirmed awareness of the arrest and explained that the employee had been placed on leave as soon as concerns were reported.

The post emphasized the district’s cooperation with law enforcement and reassured families that steps were taken to protect students.

Superintendent Shanda DuClon focused on transparency, urging anyone with relevant information to contact the district or the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department.

She concluded by stressing that, due to privacy concerns and the active investigation, no further details could be shared at this time.

The Facebook post prompted strong reactions from community members, many of whom expressed frustration and concern.

They shared their POV, highlighting their belief that accountability should extend beyond the accused, saying:

“The school had been being told about this for 2 or 3 years before doing anything… they need to be held accountable too!!!”

A person holding such a responsible title being charged with this serious offense creates deep concern and mistrust within society.

A thorough investigation needs to be performed to ensure accountability and protect the community.
