Fort Worth, Texas Community Mourns Former Lake Worth High School Football Coach Richard Querner, Survived by Wife Carol and Children

The Saginaw and Fort Worth, Texas, communities are mourning the passing of beloved longtime coach and former athlete Richard Querner.
According to loved ones, Richard Querner passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2026.
Richard Querner was in his mid-70s; however, his family hasn’t yet revealed details surrounding his death.
A native of Oklahoma, Richard Querner was a cherished member of the Oklahoma and Texas sports community. He touched the lives of many young athletes with his exceptional coaching skills and helpful, kind nature.
While little is known about his coaching career, Richard preferred to maintain a low profile; he served as a longtime varsity boys’ football coach at Lake Worth High School.
He also served as a football coach in several youth leagues in Vernon and the Fort Worth community.
In addition to being an amazing coach, Richard Querner was also an avid golfer who enjoyed playing with his friends.
Furthermore, the passing of coach Richard Querner has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and loved ones.
Many of his loved ones are paying tribute to the late Richard Querner and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.
Kenneth Harmon wrote:
“For all of the Lake Worth Alumi who knew Coach Richard Querner in some way when you were at school, my great friend, golfing buddy, passed away. Ric was with his family at the time and I’m sure glad he shared thanksgiving with his family.”
He added:
“Coach Querner was great with all of the kids at Lake Worth, and I know how much he cared for all of them. I will miss him terribly, but I know he is where he has no disease or pain. Please pray for Richard’s family.”
Richard Querner is Survived By His Longtime Wife, Carol Ann Querner, Two Kids, and The Entire Family
Richard Querner was not just an amazing coach but also a great husband to his longtime wife, Carol Sunderland Querner, and a loving father to their two kids, Gina Querner Segovia and Travis Querner.
While his family hasn’t released any statement regarding the death of Richard Querner, as they are currently grieving the loss, they often share pictures of him on social media expressing love and pride.
Like Richard Querner, his longtime wife, Carol, also dedicated years to working at Lake Worth ISD. While Richard served as a football coach, she taught at Lake Worth High School.
A graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Carol also worked at White Settlement Public Library.
Furthermore, Richard Querner raised both of his children to be exceptional athletes.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Travis Querner played football at Lake Worth High School, earning several honors, and Gina Querner excelled as a cheerleader.
In addition to his wife, Carol Sunderland Querner, and two kids, Richard Querner is survived by his son-in-law, siblings, and the entire family.
His family will soon provide details about Richard Querner’s funeral and memorial services.
Richard’s contribution to the Texas sports community and his cheerful nature will always remain in the hearts of his loved ones.
