A parent from West Virginia, “Mandy Thorne,” recently shared an emotional Facebook post about her son Deacon Thorne and his long journey in soccer.

Her post reflects years of dedication, family support, and the pride that comes from watching a child chase his dream from a young age.

Mandy explained that Deacon has been playing soccer since he was just four years old.

Most of his early development came under the guidance of his father, who coached him for many years.

From the moment Deacon first stepped onto the field with Coach Bob, his love for the sport was clear. Soccer became more than a game; it became his passion.

In her posts, Throne shares that recently, Deacon was selected to attend an Exact Showcase Camp in Pittsburgh on December 20.

The camp brought together multiple college coaches and presented a high-pressure environment.

Mandy shared that the experience was nerve-racking, with the camp running from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and filled with nonstop, intense competition.

After the camp, Deacon felt disappointed in his performance and believed he could have done better.

However, the family later received a written evaluation from a college head coach in Pennsylvania, and the words changed everything.

Coach Danley praised Deacon as an impressive midfielder who could control the flow of the game, anticipate plays, and maintain possession under pressure.

He highlighted Deacon’s strong vision, smart passing, and ability to create opportunities for teammates.

The coach also noted Deacon’s determination, pointing out how he worked through early challenges with long-range passing and showed clear improvement by the end of camp.

According to the coach, Deacon’s calm demeanor, leadership, and work ethic make him well-suited for the college level.

Mandy shared that she rarely misses a soccer event and finds joy in watching her son play.

She emphasized that the family fully supports Deacon’s dreams and is incredibly proud of his effort and determination.
