Sewanee Football mourns the recent passing of letterman and beloved friend, Matthew Burrows. Speaking with the team, Coach McCollum remembered Matthew as a passionate, energetic, and hard-working player who loved and was loved by his team. In every respect, Matthew was the epitome of a good teammate, which in Coach McCollum’s estimation is the highest compliment a student-athlete can earn. Matthew was on Coach Mac’s 2026 and 2026 teams, earned 2026 SAA Academic All-Conference honors, and was presented the Coach’s Award for service to his team at the team banquet this past winter. Matthew will be dearly missed for his humor, his good nature, and his relentless intention to give everything he had for his team. Today the team will honor his memory by wearing the initials “MB” on their helmets.
