Utah’s Cody and ShaRee Wright Built Rodeo’s Greatest Family Dynasty from a Tiny Milford Ranch and Raised Five-Time All-Around Champion Stetson

His dad, Cody, taught him how to ride, and his mom, ShaRee, taught him how to never quit.

Stetson Wright, a five-time All-Around World Champion called “Superman,” excels in bull riding and saddle bronc riding, supported by his parents, Cody and ShaRee Wright.

Stetson’s father, Cody Wright, is a legend in his own right.

Born and raised in Milford, Utah, as the oldest son of Bill and Evelyn Wright, Cody grew up with the same cowboy values he later passed down: hard work, grit, and never giving up on a dream.

At just 18, Cody married his high-school sweetheart, ShaRee. For the first three years of their marriage, he poured concrete in the family business, but the pull of saddle bronc riding was too strong.

With two little boys (Rusty and Ryder) at home, Cody loaded his truck with a camper shell and headed to Twin Falls, Idaho, to rodeo for the College of Southern Idaho under the great Shawn Davis.

Once he found a place for the family, ShaRee packed up the kids and joined him.

The gamble paid off in a big way.

Cody went on to win back-to-back PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding World Championships in 2008 and 2010, qualified for the National Finals Rodeo 13 times, and became the 20th cowboy in history to earn over $2 million.

More importantly, he started a family tradition that would shake the rodeo world.

Cody didn’t just win buckles, he raised champions.

All five of his sons (Rusty, Ryder, Stetson, Statler, and Ryder) and even several of his brothers became top saddle bronc riders and bull riders.

In 2016, the Wright family made history when five Wrights qualified for the same NFR in saddle bronc riding, breaking the famous Etbauer family record.

Today, Cody is Stetson’s biggest mentor. Stetson has said many times that his dad taught him everything, from the technical side of spurring a bronc to the mental toughness needed to climb back on after a wreck.

“He gave me the champion genes,” Stetson laughs, but everyone knows it’s a lot more than genes; it’s daily lessons in the practice pen behind the house in Milford.

ShaRee Wright, The Glue Who Holds the Dynasty Together

If Cody is the coach, ShaRee is the team manager, counselor, travel agent, nurse, and biggest cheerleader all rolled into one.

ShaRee has spent more than 25 years living the crazy rodeo life, hauling kids across the country, keeping track of entries, making sure everyone has clean wranglers and enough snacks for the road, and being there to hug them whether they just won the round or got stomped.

In one interview, she said,

She still tears up talking about the text Rusty sent her from behind the chutes after Stetson won the bull riding at the NFR:

“Mom, my brother is my hero.” Or the moment Ryder told her he was more excited for Stetson’s world title than he had been for his own.

Those are the moments that make every mile on the road worth it.

ShaRee is also the only calm one in a house full of wild cowboys.

While the boys are out back riding practice bulls or wrestling in the living room, she’s keeping the schedule straight and making sure someone remembers to feed the horses.

The whole family still lives in tiny Milford, Utah

Stetson graduated from Milford High School in 2018 in a senior class of just 35 kids. He played football and wrestled, but everyone knew rodeo was his future.

He started riding steers around age 10 or 12 and slowly worked his way up. Like his dad and brothers, he spent countless evenings in the family arena getting bucked off and climbing back on.

That small-town, hard-work upbringing, guided every day by Cody and ShaRee, turned the Wright boys into the most dominant family rodeo has ever seen.

Between Cody, his brothers, and his sons, the Wright name now owns nine Saddle Bronc World Championships, and Stetson added a Bull Riding gold buckle in 2026 for good measure.

When Stetson made history by winning the All-Around title three years in a row to start his pro career, the whole family was right there in Las Vegas, cheering.

Cody was stripping the flank strap off the bronc, Rusty and Ryder were pulling his bull rope, and ShaRee was in the stands holding her hands raw from clapping.

That’s what Stetson Wright’s parents created, not just a champion, but an entire generation of champions who love and support each other even when they’re trying to beat each other for the same gold buckle.

So the next time you see Stetson nod for the chute gate on a rank bull or spur a bronc for 90 points, remember the two people who made it all possible: his dad Cody, the quiet two-time world champion who taught him how to ride, and his mom ShaRee, the toughest cowgirl in Utah who taught him how to never quit.
