A local softball game at Colebrookdale, PA, turned into a horrible scene on Sunday, October 12, when Andrew Bogert, a player for the Boyertown Bobblebee Tuna’s, suffered severe facial injuries.

He was accidentally kneed in the face while sliding feet first into home plate. The injury was, unfortunately, devastating for Andrew and all of his loved ones, as the impact shattered the right side of Andrew’s face and nose.

Andrew’s right eye is swollen completely and shut, leaving him temporarily without vision in the affected eye.

According to family and friends, the bones in his face were “essentially floating,” suggesting how severe the damage is.

Andrew’s Wife Has Started a GoFundMe Campaign

Andrew was admitted to the hospital immediately following the accident, but has returned home to begin his recovery.

He is expected to be out of work for a couple of weeks, given the severity of the impact, and will not receive pay during this time. Additionally, his insurance will only cover a portion of the fees.

To help Andrew and his family cover the medical expenses and support him during this difficult time, a GOFundME campaign has been organized.

“Any contribution — whether a donation, a prayer, or simply sharing his story — means so much to us,” states the fundraiser and his wife, Jessica Bogert.

Jessica, who has been by Andrew’s side for more than two decades, has also thanked everyone for their support as Andrew recovers from the unfortunate incident.

The fundraising campaign, with a goal of $5,000, started just a couple of hours ago and has already received numerous donations.

Friends, teammates, and community members have expressed their support and relief that Andrew is home.

Despite the severity of the injury, Andrew remains in good spirits and is focused on his recovery.

However, after his swelling subsides, Andrew will also need to consult a plastic surgeon to determine the complexity of the surgery will be.

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • Andrew Bogert also served in the U.S. Army.
  • He, along with Jessica, has raised three children together.
