TUBA CITY, Ariz. — The Tuba City community is reeling after the unexpected death of 18-year-old Jace YG Granger, a rodeo rider and student-athlete remembered for his kindness, humor, and deep faith.

Family members say Jace lived with a big heart and an old soul, and now friends, teammates, and neighbors are gathering to support the grieving family.

In a statement, his father Justin Granger described Jace as “loving, kind, and full of humor, with an old soul that touched everyone who knew him.”

Justin said Jace loved rodeo, school sports, and the people around him, and that his faith was an important part of his life.

“We take comfort in knowing that God has called His champion home for a greater purpose,” the statement reads. The family has asked for privacy while they mourn.

A meeting for family, friends, and community members will be held today at 4:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Tuba City.

Those who wish to help the family financially may send donations via Zelle to Justin Granger at (928) 814-1065.

GoFundMe has also been launched by Kanean Toledo in Tuba City with a goal of just under $8,000 to assist with immediate expenses.

Whole Community Mourns the Loss

Family members have posted tributes and remembered Jace with photos, underscoring the personal loss behind the announcements.

The images and messages show a boy who loved what he did, riding horses and competing with a fierce, joyful spirit, and a young man who was a source of laughter and encouragement to those around him.

Friends, relatives, and community members responded with messages that convey both grief and gratitude for the life he lived.

Jareth L. Curley wrote, “He lived a life he loved, surrounded with his loved ones every step of the way. May God cover you all with his comfort & strength.” — Jareth L. Curley.

Lavina Nelson added, “Our deepest condolences and prayers of comfort. I pray for strength and comfort, knowing he had faith in the Lord, who has now received him in his Kingdom. RIP Jace YG Granger.”

Jace’s grandparent, Geri, remembered, “He loved what he did & rode bulls. He was a real champ in our eyes.”

The tragic news, undoubtedly, has hit Tuba City and it;s community extremely hard.

“This is such a tragedy!! He was surely an amazingly talented and such a respectful young man! My sincerest condolences to the family on this tremendous loss. I pray you find peace, understanding, and healing during this difficult time,” wrote Brandy Tsinigine.

“I’m so sorry for the loss of Jace! He was such a good boy! Praying for all of you at this hard time for peace and guidance. Love you all,” quoted Ashton Norris.

“He ignited a flame of passion, laughter & courage in our hearts forever. God watch over him, guide him where he needs to be and take care of his family. So long my friend, until we meet again, we will remember you,” added Harold Seschilie.

These messages, officials and family members say, are helping the Granger household feel the community’s love as they navigate immediate arrangements and the early days of grief.

There is no public confirmation about the cause of Jace’s death. Community posts and the family’s statement focus on remembrance and support; organizers and friends caution against speculation.

Out of respect for the family’s request for privacy, further details have not been released by family members at this time.

You are also requested to contact Kristy Granger and Lane Granger for any information. The family asks that inquiries be directed to them rather than shared widely online while they grieve.

Jace was a true cowboy. He rode with passion, laughed easily, and lifted teammates and friends.

For now, Tuba City is holding the Granger family in its thoughts and prayers, sharing memories, photos, and quiet support as they face a loss no parent should have to bear.
