The Terrytown Fighting Irish celebrated a proud moment as both the 13–15-year-old and 7–8-year-old basketball teams captured championship titles, showcasing skill, teamwork, and the strong community support behind the program.
These championship runs reflected months of hard work and commitment from the players and coaches.
The coaching staff invested countless hours developing fundamentals, building confidence, and nurturing a genuine love for the game.
Their selfless dedication helped young athletes grow not only as players but also as teammates and competitors.
The success of the Fighting Irish also highlighted the vital role of community leadership.
Mayda Plustache led the booster club with energy and purpose, ensuring the teams looked sharp and confident in their new uniforms.
Her efforts strengthened team pride and gave the players an extra boost every time they stepped onto the court.
Special recognition goes to Jonathan, a coach of the 7–8-year-old team and a key partner at Terrytown Playground, who helped guide the youngest Fighting Irish to a championship season.
His leadership and enthusiasm made a lasting impact on the players and contributed directly to the team’s success.
Behind the scenes, Lillian Martinez Hennessey worked tirelessly day after day to make sure players and coaches had everything they needed for successful seasons.
Although she could not stay until the end of the celebration, her dedication played a major role in creating a supportive and organized environment for the program.
The daytime staff at Terrytown Playground also deserve recognition for keeping the facilities clean, welcoming, and game-ready throughout the season.
Their efforts helped create a space where kids could focus on learning, competing, and having fun.
With championship trophies in hand and community pride on full display, the Terrytown Fighting Irish continue to set a high standard for youth sports.
The victories belong not only to the players on the court, but to every coach, volunteer, and staff member who poured their time and heart into the program.
