Theresa Hayes, a coach from Raleigh, North Carolina, took to her Facebook page to share tragic news about one of her students’ passing, resulting from verbal abuse.
She wrote about one of the worst things any coach can hear.
Theresa revealed that one of the kids she calls her babies chose to end his own life after suffering from constant bullying, and the hardest part was that the bullying came straight from his own parents.
The boy had moved away with his family to another state about five years ago, but the pain he carried from home never really left him.
His parents worked from home, so they were always around, and instead of building him up, they kept tearing him down over every little thing.
Theresa revealed the boy’s parents criticized the way he dressed, how he wore his hair, the shape of his body, even his feet, calling them fat, and they shamed him for struggling in school.
It got so bad that he felt embarrassed all the time, especially around his friends, who eventually stopped coming over because his mom and dad scared them away. reached out to Theresa
After the tragedy happened, the grandmother went through the parents’ phones and found awful text messages they had sent to their son, messages full of the same hurtful words he had lived with for so long.
Those messages were shown to the police, and both parents were taken in for questioning.
While going through their phones, thankfully, she found Theresa’s number in one of the parents’ phones and reached out to her.
Theresa disclosed that the grandmother remembered how kind she had always been to her grandson back when he was still local, how she made him feel loved and accepted when he didn’t get that at home.
She called just to thank her for being there for him, even if he never fully believed he deserved it.
The small town where the family used to live is in complete shock right now, and people are angry about what came out.
Theresa ended her post with a plea to parents everywhere. She said please, even if you never raise a hand to your child, the things you say can do lasting damage.
Even if you dont lay a hand on them, verbal abuse can do just as much damage, even after they grow up. THEY WILL NOT FORGET!

Some people we’re never meant to be parents and they are a good example. Verbal abuse can truly mess with a kids head and it’s sad they didn’t care enough to see the damage
