A young basketball player, Jagger Cox, passed away on November 23, 2026, in a tragic car crash; however, intricate details surrounding his demise remain unknown.
Jagger Cox is survived by his mother, Candace N. Jones, and his extended family.
Candace, his mother, took to her Facebook to process her grief and seek a silver lining amid the challenging situation, writing:
Take my baby kidd by the hand, Lord.. i cant go with him today but I trust You will. Please pray for our family as we walk through this unimaginable tragedy…
“For I hold you by your right hand— I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.”
Isaiah 41:13 NLT
Following his sudden demise, his mother and family have been receiving condolences and words of encouragement from many out there.
Synthia Renea McDonald, the friend of Jagger’s mother, asked everyone to keep his family in prayers, which reads:
If everyone on my Facebook could stop right now and send up a prayer for one of my favorite people at the Lovelady Center and her family, Candace N. Jones, she lost her baby boy this morning, Jagger Cox in a horrible car accident. Candace is always there for someone who needs her, but I think right now, she needs us to be there for her to pray ! I love you so much fam !
Synthia Renea McDonaldJagger Cox was a senior at Ragland High School in Alabama, who played football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and baseball in the spring.
On the football team, he wore number 19 and lined up at wide receiver and defensive back, sometimes even taking a few snaps at quarterback.
Last season, as a junior, he caught 5 passes for 118 yards and scored twice, including a long one of 69 yards. He also made 39 tackles and picked off a pass.
His coach gave him a Player of the Game award once because he just kept making plays.
In Ragland’s recent 63-57 win over Jacksonville Christian, he put up 4 points and played tough defense the whole night.
Jagger had been on varsity in football and basketball since his sophomore year, and he’s stuck with baseball too.
Thus far, his family has not published details of Jagger’s funeral and memorial services.
During this difficult time, we pray for the strength of Jagger’s mother, friends, teammates, and extended family.
Rest In Heavenly Peace, Jagger Cox!
