A youth soccer match involving Phoenix United FV and Southern Soccer Academy Swarm 14 Pre MLS Next teams has drawn attention on social media after a Facebook post by Miriam Quinones described what she called unacceptable behavior from parents and spectators during the game.

The post, shared in a West Valley Soccer discussion group, quickly spread as multiple users reacted to claims of aggressive sideline conduct and inappropriate remarks made during the match.

According to Quinones and responses within the thread, tensions escalated during what was described as a physical and emotionally charged time.

Daniel Cowan, who commented in the discussion, noted that while both teams showed intensity on the field, the most concerning issue appeared to come from the sidelines.

He wrote that some parents were yelling comments while players were on the ground and suggested that officials should have intervened to control spectators or pause the match to restore order.

Cowan stated,

This game happened behind my kids game. While it looked like a physical game on the field, and refs (and coaches) could have done better to address parents to control it (or clear the sideline), the Swarm parents were directly behind us and showed some of the worst sideline behavior I ever witnessed. Not saying United parents/fans were perfect – could hear one teen aged fan mocking/egging on the parents – but the comments when some
United players were on the ground was pathetic from the Swarm adults. One mom was trying to control their parents, but heard more than a few inappropriate comments.
All that to say, not shocked based on what I witnessed that something abhorrent like this was publicly posted.

Miriam Quinones responded within the thread, emphasizing that youth sports environments should remain respectful regardless of the outcome.

She said she had experienced competitive behavior before but had not personally experienced incidents involving racism, adding that her intention in posting was to raise awareness about what she witnessed and heard through others at the event.

Another participant, Santiago Briseno Jr., supported the decision to speak out, arguing that adults at youth sporting events must be held accountable for their behavior.

Miriam Quiñones you did the right thing. Unfortunately we’re living in a society where people feel like they can say and do whatever they want without consequences. As someone who served this country for 25 years, I understand very well the importance of freedom of speech—but freedom also comes with responsibility and accountability. He was irresponsible with his freedom of speech, and hopefully he faces the consequences that come with it.

The comments section within the thread also included personal reactions to the broader situation. Jamie Landreman initially criticized the public nature of the post but later clarified that his comments were directed at another individual involved in the discussion.

Corporate Fallout After Alleged Offensive Comments Surface

As the discussion continued, attention shifted to an alleged social media review attributed to Adam Butcko, which was shared within the thread by another participant.

One commenter, Jim Hayes, shared a screenshot suggesting the individual had a professional tied to Mercedes-Benz USA and highlighted concerns about public conduct affecting workplace reputation.

Others suggested that employers should be made aware of the situation, arguing that behavior expressed online could reflect on professional roles.

However, the conversation remains ongoing online, with community members continuing to share reactions and call for higher standards of behavior at youth soccer events.
