Ken Nunn, a respected personal injury lawyer from Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on the morning of December 24, 2026, at the age of 85.
His law office shared the sad news the next day, letting everyone know how much he meant to so many people over the years.
Ken Nunn is survived by his daughter, Vicky Nunn Jarrett and son-in-law, Brad Jarrett, his son, David Nunn, and daughter-in-law, Evelina, and his two grandchildren, Katelynn Nunn and Jimmy Nunn.
Vicky, his daughter, was inspired to become an attorney by him and has been part of Ken Nunn Law Office since 2001. She will be taking over the leadership of the law office.
She expressed her grief, writing:
❤️😢❤️ Forever Dad. ❤️❤️❤️ I had no words yesterday
We loved him so much and we looked up to him to guide us. Dad was ALWAYS there to help, give his opinion or just give a hug. Dad, you will be forever missed and we love you.
Ken is preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Leah Nunn, who passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 79.
He grew up in really tough circumstances in the poorest part of Jeffersonville, Indiana, raised in a single-parent home where things were never easy. He even dropped out of high school for a while and got into some trouble along the way.
But everything changed when he met Leah Kay Nunn, who was his girlfriend back then and later became his wife.
They first met as teenagers in high school, and Leah was the one who pushed him hard to turn his life around.
She told him straight that if he wanted to keep dating her, he had to start showing up to class, do his homework, pass his classes, and graduate. This made all the difference in his life.
With Leah by his side, Ken got his high school diploma, then earned a business degree from Indiana University in 1964, followed by his law degree from the IU School of Law in 1967.
The lawyer always said she was the guiding force behind everything he accomplished, supporting him financially and emotionally while he went through college and law school.
Ken and Leah dated for about six years before getting married in 1962. They spent over 60 years of happy married life; however, it came to an end after she passed away.
Ken started his law practice right there in Bloomington in 1962, setting up his first office with nothing more than a card table and a couple of folding chairs.
From those humble beginnings, he built it into the largest personal injury practice based in the state of Indiana.
The firm grew over the decades to include nearly 90 employees and 12 lawyers, with offices that serve every single county across Indiana.
People recognize that big building in Bloomington, and his commercials with the slogan “Call me, it’s just that easy” became something everyone knew.
He focused on helping injured people against big insurance companies and corporations, always fighting hard for his clients and winning big recoveries in many cases.
Ken was remembered as a pioneer in the way personal injury law is practiced today. He was a big supporter of Indiana University, especially IU basketball, and he gave back a lot to the community through charities, donations to IU athletics, scholarships, the Boys and Girls Club, police departments with trauma packs, and many other causes.
It was his significant legal work that earned him spots in groups like the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and recognition as an Indiana Super Lawyer.
So far, details surrounding Ken’s funeral and memorial service hasn’t been published.
During this difficult time, we pray for the strength of Ken’s kids, grandkids, extended family, colleagues, and friends.
Rest Easy, Ken Nunn!
