A mother of NYU freshman Max Isenhower, Anne Isenhower, is now reunited with her son, after she took her own life this New Year.

Max Isenhower was the loving son of Anne and had just started his freshman year at NYU.

According to Max’s mother, Anne, he was her greatest achievement and legacy.

On December 7, 2026, Anne’s son Max died unexpectedly, leaving her world devastated, as he was her greatest passion.

Following her son’s passing, Anne took time to process the loss but could not find peace.

While losing the son she loved the most, Anne made the decision to take her own life this New Year’s season.

After her departure, a letter was found that she had written, which said;

“Everything I ever did was for him, and every minute I spent with him was a joy.”

“Wherever Max is, he misses me and he needs me. I want my gentle, sweet, smart, funny, kind, goofy, thoughtful kid who always knew what was in my head and my heart. I’m not religious, but I believe there’s something out there. I will find him, and I will take care of him.”

Following her passing, her friends and loved ones have asked everyone to respect her and remember her for her good work rather than the tragic incident.

One of her friends on Facebook shared a heartfelt post expressing grief and asking everyone not to judge her choices. In the post, her friend wrote;

I know this might not be the way you’d want to remember her. But I’ll say this: Don’t judge her choices. Don’t make her legacy about how she left us, but rather about how she lived her life. Remember the organizations she supported, those she mentored, and the incredible work she did in supporting healthcare clients. That’s what I’m going to do. Anne was loved by so many and so many of us love her. She touched the lives of so many people in endless ways and valued each and every one of us. She would want us to continue her work and share her light in our own ways.

Following Anne’s passing, nearly a month after her son’s death, the family and community have been left in deep mourning.

Anne was not just a mother; she was also an advisor with decades of experience, helping and supporting parents through social work initiatives.

She was the founder of Anne Isenhower Communications LLC, a public relations and media relations consultancy.

Her company has over 20 years of experience working with top PR agencies, nonprofits, and corporate clients.

Now that she, along with her son, has left the world too early, her friends and family are mourning and trying to cope with the loss while preserving her lasting legacy.

While everyone who knew Anne is going through this difficult time, we would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the Isenhower family and friends.

Gone too soon, Anne and Max. May you rest together in peace.
