In a social media space, often dominated by alerts, complaints, and troubling headlines, one heartfelt post from Mifflin County offered a refreshing reminder that kindness is still being quietly practiced and taught by the next generation.
Yate Karnell shared a “parenting praise” post that quickly resonated with hundreds, recounting an experience at Kish Park that left one mother deeply grateful and a community unexpectedly uplifted.
The post, originally written by a mom identified as Yate Karnell, described a simple afternoon that turned into a powerful example of inclusion and values in action.
According to the post, the mom had taken her six-year-old son to Kish Park around 4 p.m. to burn off some energy.
On the playground, a group of older boys, estimated to be around 10 or 11 years old, were already playing a fast-paced game of tag that involved throwing a football at one another.
When the younger child approached, there was an initial moment of hesitation. One boy suggested that the six-year-old was too young to join.
What happened next, however, is what transformed an ordinary park visit into a moment worth celebrating.
Another boy in the group spoke up, convincing the others to let the young child play. The boys welcomed him in as if he were a new friend rather than a burden.
Even more telling, they adjusted their game to keep him safe, continuing to throw the football among themselves but deliberately refraining from throwing it at the smaller child.
Their actions showed awareness, self-control, and consideration far beyond what many might expect from kids their age.
“They were respectful & welcoming,” the mom wrote, noting that she didn’t see any parents nearby to thank in person.
The only name she heard clearly was Wyatt, a detail that later sparked hopeful speculation in the comments as people wondered if the child’s family might see the post.
The mom was quick to clarify that the boys were still exactly what kids should be: “wild, loud & crazy.”
Her post concluded with a note of gratitude and holiday warmth, wishing a Merry Christmas to the families raising those boys.

This warmed my heart .
I am not oblivious that there are many children who aren’t doing kind things.
But let’s blow the bull horn and shout from the roof tops when children are …..
Happy Christmas xo
