A Facebook post from the page No Filter Society has drawn attention this week after a Memphis family shared images of a teenager who returned home with severe bruising on his arm, sparking concern that he may have been the victim of school bullying.

The post went viral, garnering hundreds of comments from social media users offering support, speculation, and advice.

The original post, written by the teen’s sibling, details their frustration over the situation.

According to the post, the teen’s arm displayed significant bruising, and when asked about the cause, he insisted it was “nothing” and claimed he had fallen while riding his bicycle.

The sibling, however, expressed disbelief, stating that the injuries did not match a bicycle accident and fearing that the teen was too embarrassed to reveal that bullying at school may have been involved.

Many commenters shared similar experiences or offered advice on how to respond. Damien Culver suggested,

Tell him to hit back. If he smacks the shit out of a bully, chances are, they’ll stop.

Others pointed out that such activities can leave serious bruises, with William Bird noting,

Nicholas PapsI said the same. I did the same stupid shit… see who bowed out first. There really is no winner, no matter who quits first. Both have a wounded, useless, and badly bruised and discolored arm for a few weeks..lol.

William Bird

Other commenters expressed frustration at schools’ handling of bullying, Claudia Schwarz wrote,

Sadly enough, SCHOOLS DONT TAKE BULLYING SERIOUS NOWADAYS 😡😡😡😡😡 !!
Then they wonder WHY so many school shootings happen !!

Kevin Roth recommended involving legal action, stating,

Fuck the school.get a lawyer first then go after the school nothing will be solved going into the school.

Some users offered practical advice, including self-defense and reporting procedures.

Hunter Maher suggested enrolling the teen in a self-defense class so he could protect himself, while Hathor Planckton recommended contacting the Department of Children’s Services and school officials to ensure accountability.

id call dcf of the school and then tell the principal and the superintendant about it they will scramble to make things hapoen

Hathor Planckton

The post highlighted the generational divide in attitudes toward bullying. Older commenters shared memories of standing up physically to peers, with Michael DeBacco explaining,

Well when I went to school kids picked another kids I’m not saying it was right but you just dealt with it if you didn’t want to be picked on well then you would knock a f* bully the hell out kids weren’t taught to not defend themselves like nowadays a bully picks on you and you’re supposed to stand there and let him f with you f* that s* if the kids that are being bullied were allowed to actually stand up for themselves it would be different I’m not saying bullying as okay but also the kids being bullied nowadays are so sensitive to every little f* thing you need to stop being little sissy and wake up the world and life is not going to baby you going to school is part of getting taught life skills and it’s not just at a desk and in a book just like when the kids complain they have to get up early to go to school well that’s trying to show you and get you ready for getting up early for work everyday and being responsible but yet kids b* about it again I’m not saying bullying is good but it’s just part of life when you’re not in school anymore people are still going to bully you and you have to know how to put them in their place but then again the school is nowadays teach the kids that are getting bullied that they’re not allowed to fight back or stand up for themselves and that is not right

Michael DeBacco

Others cautioned that jumping to conclusions without understanding the context could cause more harm than good.

Experts note that any unexplained injuries in children should be taken seriously.

Child safety advocates recommend providing emotional support and ensuring the child’s safety, and working with school officials to investigate the cause.
