Marysville Schools Face Backlash Over Allegations of Racist Incident in Athletics Program

A Facebook post by Joe Page has triggered widespread discussion in St. Clair County after he alleged that racism is occurring in Marysville schools and called for action from the district.

The post, which quickly gained attention online, led to a long thread of comments from parents and community members sharing reactions, concerns, and personal experiences connected to the school system.

Amanda Crocker wrote in an emotional comment that she was “utterly revolted by Marysville schools blatant disregard for RACISM in the school district,” adding that the issue involved her daughter.

She further stated, “Who’s up for a protest? Bc I’m about to show up to every softball game with a sign stating that Marysville High allows racial slurs in their own dugout,” and claimed that a teammate used a racial slur during a school sports setting.

Crocker said, “Nothing has been done about it, and nobody has been reprimanded,” expressing frustration over how the school handled the situation.

Louie Ramirez stated, “Marysville is full of people like that,” reflecting frustration from some residents about long-standing issues in the community.

Not all comments focused on blame or anger. Melissa Marie Queen wrote, “Ong this is insane. This shouldn’t be allowed. Who ever said that should be banned,” while Anonymous participant 259 stated, “That player should be off the team and publicly reprimanded. There is no excuse for that behavior.”
