Lyssa Smith’s injury has shaken the Marana community, leaving friends, colleagues, and loved ones united in concern and support as she begins a long and difficult road to recovery.

Known for her warmth, positivity, and kindness, Lyssa has been a bright presence at Marana High School from the moment she joined the campus as the athletic clerk in January 2026.

Her cheerful spirit and genuine care for others quickly made her a beloved member of the school community.

Everyone who has spent even a few minutes with Lyssa can attest to the joy she brings into every space she enters.

She brings that same love and light into motherhood. Her devotion to her 2-year-old son, Jasper, shines through in every story she shares and every smile that touches her face when she talks about him.

On Friday night, November 21st, after working the final Marana High School football game of the season, Lyssa began her drive home.

Just minutes into her route, another vehicle struck her, leaving her with devastating injuries.

She sustained severe trauma, including brain bleeds, a broken arm, and significant lacerations to her liver and kidneys.

Emergency crews transported her to the hospital, where she was admitted to the ICU.

Doctors expect Lyssa’s healing journey to be long and challenging.

Her injuries require extensive medical care, and her recovery will involve painful rehabilitation, prolonged hospitalization, and weeks—if not months—away from home and work.

News of Lyssa Smith’s injury spread quickly, prompting an immediate wave of support from the Marana High School staff, local families, and friends who know just how much she has poured into her community.

As medical bills, household expenses, and childcare needs for her young son begin to accumulate, the community has rallied to help ease the financial burden.

Support for Lyssa has also come from those closest to her, including her best friend Elleanna Isabel.

Elleanna shared that Lyssa was only five minutes from home when a drunk driver struck her vehicle.

While she feels deeply grateful that Lyssa survived the crash, she says the road ahead will be long and overwhelming.

She hopes that anyone able to donate—no matter the amount—will help give Lyssa the stability she needs during this crisis.

Lyssa Smith’s injury has not dimmed the love surrounding her, nor the determination of those who care about her.

The community continues to share messages of encouragement, donate to her recovery fund, and spread the word to ensure she and Jasper receive the support they need.

As Lyssa fights through this difficult chapter, her friends, colleagues, and loved ones remain resolute: they will walk beside her every step of the way.

If you are able to help, your generosity—big or small—will make a meaningful difference in Lyssa’s recovery and her family’s stability during this unimaginable time.
