November is Epilepsy Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on a condition that affects millions of people worldwide. People wear purple to raise awareness of epilepsy and show their support.
Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects the brain and can cause seizures.
A seizure is like a sudden, temporary “electrical storm” in the brain, which can look different for everyone, from a person staring blankly for a few seconds to uncontrollable shaking.
The goal of Epilepsy Awareness Month is to spread knowledge and kindness. Many people with epilepsy face misunderstanding and stigma because their seizures can be frightening to witness.
I cry, I beg, I plead, I pray that one day your seizures will go away. Just when you think the storm has passed, it sneaks back up on you. Oh, so fast with no warning at all.
As I watch my precious child fall, the feeling of despair, thinking this is just not fair.
