The community of Lily Pad Learning Center is mourning the devastating loss of its beloved owner, Jennifer Helgen.
Her passing has left a deep void in the hearts of the families, staff, and friends who knew her as a compassionate leader, devoted advocate, and a beacon of kindness.
Jennifer dedicated her life to creating a safe, nurturing, and loving environment for children and families.
As the heart of Lily Pad, she led with generosity, warmth, and unwavering commitment.
Her leadership turned the center into more than a childcare facility — it became a close-knit community built on trust and care.
The Lily Pad Directors shared the heartbreaking news with families, expressing their immense gratitude for Jennifer’s vision and passion.
“Jennifer was the kind of person who would give anything she had to help her staff members and the families of Lily Pad,” the statement read.
“She loved all of her past and present staff and families fearlessly, and she will be missed so, so much by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.”
FacebookTo honor her memory, Lily Pad will close its doors on Thursday, October 23, for Jennifer’s service.
Moving forward, Dave Helgen will take over ownership and operations, ensuring Jennifer’s mission continues.
The center will reopen on Monday to support families in need of care, carrying on the spirit of love and community that Jennifer built.
Messages of condolences have poured in from parents, former staff, and community members. Amy Brown shared,
“She was always the first to say hello. Even from a distance, Jennifer’s impact was unmistakable — she was a beacon of light — someone to look up to.”
FacebookTop fan PJ Rodgers added,
“Such a tremendous loss for Jen’s family, our community, its children, and all who loved her. Her vision and dream will now live on and continue to be the guiding light for all of us who were lucky enough to know her.”
FacebookFor many, Jennifer was more than an owner — she was a “community mother.”
Samantha Donaldson, one of her colleagues, described her as a person who would “take her shirt off to give it to you, even if she didn’t know you.”
“She was an amazing teacher, advocate, and boss,” Donaldson shared.
“She worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure we had a job to go to. The kids were always her first and forever priority.”
FacebookJennifer Helgen’s death has deeply shaken everyone connected to Lily Pad and the wider community.
Friends and families continue to flood social media with prayers and memories, reflecting the profound impact she had on countless lives.
As the community gathers to grieve and honor her memory, Jennifer’s legacy of compassion, leadership, and selflessness will continue to live on through the children she nurtured, the families she supported, and the staff she inspired.
