The accident took place at 12 p.m. on County Road 438, about a quarter-mile east of State Highway 70.
A 15-year-old Tahoka boy, Tuett Mortensen, lost his life in a tragic accident on a Kent County road on Saturday.

Tuett Mortensen’s Family Mourns the Tragic Loss
Tuett Mortensen passed away on Saturday at the age of 15, following an ATV accident on a Kent County road.
He was a beloved son to Katelyn Nash and Aaron Mortensen, born in May 2010.
Tuett was raised in a close-knit family defined by hard work and dedication.
Aaron is an employee of Hughes Meter, and Katelyn is the entrepreneur behind Flip It and Blessed Photography by Katelyn.
Truett was the cherished grandson of Eddy and Norma Nash, and his family’s foundation was a source of his immense strength and character.
Just surviving! It’s been a “heavy” year for sure, but still so thankful for the little joys. I literally cried today when ALL the lights on my Christmas tree were out except the bottom row. Aaron Mortensen saw me standing in the doorway of the garage with tears. We got it fixed, replaced a fuse from another strand of lights that don’t mean as much to me as those on my tree.
Katelyn Nash MortensenTruett was a sophomore at New Home High School and a talented athlete on the Varsity baseball team. He wore the Leopard uniform with pride and had a bright future ahead of him.
He was kind, spirited, hard-working, and possessed a genuine love for the people around him.
As he grew older, Truett was always found helping right beside his mom, aunt, and grandma. His playful, uplifting spirit brought joy to everyone around him.
He made the New Home community and this world a better place simply by being in it.
PRAY! Drop to your knees and PRAY, please!!!
Katelyn Nash MortensenSadly, Truett’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, teammates, coaches, and all who knew him. He will be missed by so many.
The Mortensen family will announce memorial services at a later date.
In this time of unimaginable grief, the whole community asks that you hold the Mortensen and Nash families in your thoughts and prayers.
Rest In Peace, Tuett Mortensen.
