Allegations of racial bias have surfaced in Calhoun after parents reportedly withdrew their child from a local youth recreational football team due to the coach’s race.
The incident occurred during the season for the nine- and ten-year-old age division, sparking community concern and discussion about discrimination in local sports programs.
According to Haylie Brown, whose brother-in-law coached the team this past season, the parents not only requested a refund for the registration fee but also made racist remarks about the coach.
“The rec department refused their refund and also refused to place them on a different team because they do not condone racism,” Brown said.
The incident has reportedly extended beyond the football field.
Brown claimed that the father involved has been harassing women at a local Walmart.
“He has one leg and is literally at Walmart seven days a week from 5 a.m. until closing,” Brown explained.
“He has no life outside of being a Spark driver other than to harass people.”

The story has drawn a mix of reactions online. Some expressed sympathy for the man’s work ethic and physical challenges, while others criticized his alleged behavior and reinforced the importance of equality and respect.
The Calhoun Recreation Department has taken a firm stance against discrimination, emphasizing that racial bias will not be tolerated in its programs.
As the community continues to process the incident, local authorities and residents remain alert, hoping to ensure the safety and inclusivity of youth sports in Calhoun.
