Hortonville, Wisconsin Community Mourns Winneconne K9 Officer and Avid Steelers Fan and Pole Dancer, Hayley Ackerman, Survived by Partner Dustin and Family

Hortonville and Winneconne, Wisconsin, communities are mourning the untimely death of beloved resident and avid sports fan, Hayley Ackerman.
Hayley Ackerman passed away earlier this week; however, her family and loved ones haven’t yet disclosed the actual cause of her untimely death. She was in her early 30s.
Born to parents Robin Powell and James ‘Jim’ Ackerman, Hayley Ackerman was a cherished member of the Wisconsin sports community and touched the lives of many with her service to the community as a proud police officer.
Hayley began her role as a part-time police officer with the Winneconne Police Department, where she officially took her oath of office alongside Officer Noah Brandl earlier this year.
She completed her field training on May 12, 2026, continuing to train diligently as she grew into her responsibilities, including work connected to the department’s K9 program.
Her service reflected a strong commitment to public safety, including efforts to establish two new parking zones to address local safety concerns.
A lifelong learner, Hayley earned her associate degree in forensic science from Fox Valley Technical College in 2026.
In Spring 2026, she received the FVTC Benefit Golf Outing Scholarship, a recognition of both her academic drive and community involvement.
Alongside her law enforcement career, she also worked as a veterinary technician assistant at the Animal Referral Center, blending her love for animals with her professional life.
Outside of work, Hayley lived boldly and creatively. She was an avid pole dancer and aerial performer, having trained extensively in aerial dance across Wisconsin.
Her social media reflected her passion, filled with images celebrating her strength, artistry, and dedication to dance.
Hayley also embraced the outdoors. She loved ATV riding, motorcycling, snowmobiling, and horseback riding, always seeking adventure and freedom in nature.
A devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Hayley rarely missed a game. Her love for football showed proudly through photos, game-day celebrations, and constant loyalty to her team.
Hayley Ackerman’s contribution to the Wisconsin community as an avid dancer, officer, and her love for animals and football will always be remembered.
Social Media is Filled With Heartfelt Tributes To Late Hayley Ackerman
The untimely death of Hayley Ackerman has left a profound void in the lives of her family, friends and loved ones.
Many of her loved ones are sharing her memories on social media and extending their heartfelt tributes to her family during this difficult time.
One wrote:
“I don’t really know where to start.. well it started long ago with someone wearing a steelers jersey and I was wearing a packers jersey. Two people that had no clue what we were doing. Hayley you had no fear. You chased around them horses without a care in the world. It didnt matter what we did but you loved speed. You loved the freedom of the open wind, weather it be be on horse, atv, snowmobile, motorcycle, or even a moped. Still remember you driving manual in the integra. To jumping up on a dusty truck bench. Going to the fairs or even driving across the country. You always wanted to be with animals and in law enforcement and last Couple of years you really made that come true. Proud of you for always sticking to your goals and crushing them. You’ll always hold a special part of my heart. Until I get to see you again Hayley Ackerman ride free as the wind.”

“My heart goes out to your loved ones. Hug your friends close, no matter how long its been or if you’re “not that close”. Life happens so quickly. We lost a great person yesterday. Rest in peace Hayley Ackerman Thank you for being a great friend in dance class and coming out to do some awesome witch photos with me. You are a rockstar with such a kind heart & soul. ❤ 💐”

Her family will soon provide details about Hayley’s funeral and memorial services.
