At Gahanna Middle School, two girls endured relentless bullying from their basketball teammates throughout the year.
Their shoes were stolen, damaged, and they faced constant harassment despite repeated reports to the administration since August 2026.
When the girls finally stood up for themselves verbally, instead of receiving protection, they were punished, barred from games, excluded from practices, and told they could not return until Monday.
The administration labeled this a “code of conduct” violation, even though similar behavior by students of another race went unpunished.
What began as peer bullying escalated into institutional silencing, raising serious concerns of racial bias and unfair treatment.

Gahanna Middle School Bullying Case Exposes Racial Bias and Silencing of Victims!
This incident was shared publicly by Indeea Nicole in a Facebook post, where she detailed the bullying her daughters faced and the consequences of their attempt to defend themselves.
Her post focused on the administration’s failure to hold aggressors accountable, contrasting the unequal enforcement of rules across racial lines.
Nicole’s words emphasized that her daughters were not only bullied by teammates but also by the very institution meant to protect them.
She concluded her post with a powerful statement:
Bullied by teammates. Now bullied by the administration. This is not accountability. This is silencing. This is unfair. This is racial bias.
Community members quickly reacted to Nicole’s post, sharing their perspectives and frustrations.
One commenter highlighted the importance of evidence, saying,
Make sure to have some form of documentation of reports available. Without it, they can play the ‘they never said anything’ game.
Another voiced concern over fairness, stating:
It’s unfair practice of the school. All students should be treated equally. It’s supposed to be justice for all.
Others echoed the sentiment of equal treatment, with one remarking:
Yes it is not right, all children should be treated the same way.
This case shows how unchecked bullying, unequal discipline, and racial bias can silence victims instead of protecting them.
