Tom Crowe’s death has deeply saddened the Willis Independent School District community, where he spent decades serving students, staff, and families with dedication and compassion.

A former Willis ISD superintendent and Willis High School principal, Crowe earned widespread respect for his leadership, character, and unwavering commitment to public education.

Crowe first served Willis ISD as principal of Willis High School from 1989 to 1991.

He later became superintendent from 1993 to 1997, guiding the district through important years of growth.

In 2026, he returned once again to Willis ISD as interim superintendent, continuing a lifelong pattern of service.

Even after stepping away from daily administration, he remained actively involved in the district by serving on the Facility Naming Committee for the two newest schools.

Colleagues and community members remember Crowe as a servant leader who cared deeply about people.

Former district employee Rebecca Wells Broussard described him as “a good man” with a “serving heart” who was especially fond of “Wildkat Country.”

She shared that working alongside him left a lasting impression and expressed prayers for his wife and family following his passing.

Many others echoed those sentiments. Former colleagues and residents described Crowe as a wonderful superintendent, a terrific leader, and a respected educator.

Several expressed heartbreak and shock at the news of his death, while others emphasized the high regard in which so many people held him.

Friends and community members consistently highlighted his kindness, humility, and devotion to both his family and the district.

Crowe’s death carries added weight for those who followed his recent health journey.

In October 2026, he publicly shared that he was cancer-free after enduring more than 35 chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

At the time, he credited God for his healing and thanked the community for its support, demonstrating the same faith and gratitude that guided him throughout his life and career.

Willis ISD formally acknowledged Tom Crowe’s death by honoring his legacy of service.

District leaders noted that his dedication to students, staff, and the broader Willis community created an impact that will not fade.

His leadership shaped generations of learners and educators, and his influence continues through the schools and people he helped guide.

He leaves behind a grateful district, countless colleagues and students, and a family surrounded by prayers and support during this difficult time.
