Former NFL Player of Houston, Lee Spivey Dies at 67, Leaving Brother Reginald and Community in Grief!

Former Kashmere High School football player Lee Spivey passed away, leaving the Houston, Texas community in grief.
Lee attended Southern Methodist University from 1977 to 1980, where he played for the college in different leagues.
He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 7th round, 182nd overall, in the 1981 NFL Draft and later traded to the Washington Redskins, where he played for several years.
Houston Community and Spivey Family Mourn the Loss of Lee Spivey!
Born on December 17, 1957, in Houston, Texas, Lee was raised alongside his brother, Reginald Spivey.
Following his NFL journey from the Lions, he later played for several NFL teams, including the Washington Redskins and the Los Angeles Raiders.
Although his time in the NFL was brief, he found greater stability and more playing opportunities in other professional leagues.
Spivey went on to play in the United States Football League, where he became a starting offensive lineman for the San Antonio Gunslingers in 1984.
He continued in the USFL the following year, splitting his time between San Antonio and the Portland Breakers.
Later in his career, he moved to the Canadian Football League and played for the Calgary Stampeders, appearing in games during the 1987 and 1988 seasons.
Now that Lee has passed away, his former teammates, community members, and family appear to be mourning, sharing their grief, and supporting one another.
While Lee’s family has not made a public statement about his death, one of his close friends and former teammates, Harvey Armstrong, confirmed it in a Facebook post.
Following the post, many people have shared their support and sympathy in the comments, expressing condolences and paying tribute to Lee. One user in the commonet wrote;

Another one in the same post writes;
Special Condolences! Spivey and I had memories. First lineman I went one on one with freshman year. Love to the Spivey family!
As of now, the Spivey family has not confirmed Lee’s death or shared funeral details. After taking some time to grieve, his brother Reginald may provide an update soon.
