Former Hartshorne High School Football Player LaMarcus Dewayne Morris, 29, Passed Away, Leaving Parents and Family Shattered!

A 29-year old former Hartshorne High School and University of Central Oklahoma football player, LaMarcus Dewayne Morris, passed away suddenly on December 27, 2026.

LaMarcus is survived by his granny, Lindsy Jo Pope Moody; parents, Tammie Davidson and Jeffery Shores; his sister, Cierra Morris; his brothers, Jalen Shores, Jayzen Shores, and Jordan Shores.

He also leaves behind his best friend, Jarrod Holt, and special friends Kirby Smith, along with her children, Kenya Copeland, Kiersten Smith, Bryson Smith, plus Mackenzie Holt and her children, Indie Harden and Navie Louise.

LaMarcus was a beloved uncle to his nieces, Khaleah, Khalani, and Keiko, and nephews Koen and Kendon.

Similarly, other family members who survive him include his uncle Eddie Morris, great aunts and uncles John Pope Jr. and Reba Pope, Edwinna Gehring, Barbara and Jim Lann, Oklahoma, Karen Yells Eagle, and Lora “Boo” Dunafan, both, and a large number of cousins who all shared in his life.

His beloved dog Meeko was always by his side, too.

Whereas, LaMarcus was preceded in death by his brother Alex Davidson Jr., his grandfather Wayne Morris, his great-grandparents John and Virgie “Sally” Pope, his uncle Roderick “Bosco” Pope, great uncles Frank Pope, Howard Pope, C.A. Dunafan, and Gary Gehring, as well as cousins Gary Gehring Jr. and Elijah YellsEagle.

Born on September 3, 1996, in Talihina, Oklahoma, to Tammie Morris, LaMarcus was a 2015 graduate of Hartshorne High School.

He was a standout football player in high school, playing for the Miners. He was a key player who earned All-State honors. The Key player for the Miners, LaMarcus’s talent and hard work earned him All-State honors recognition.

After high school, he continued playing football at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Once his time in college football wrapped up, LaMarcus found a new passion in bodybuilding. He threw himself into it completely, showing up at the gym almost every single day without fail.

The way he built his physique showed just how disciplined and dedicated he could be when something mattered to him.

He didn’t keep all that knowledge to himself either. He loved sharing tips, encouraging people who were just starting out, and helping anyone who asked for advice on their own fitness journey.

RIP bro.. Glad i got to know you and work with you these past few months. Was just thinking about calling you yesterday to figure out when we could go knocking in kansas. Rest easy brother.. LaMarcus Morris ❤️

The family has arranged a visitation so people can come pay their respects.

It is scheduled from 6:00 in the evening until 8:00 on Tuesday, December 30, 2026, right at the Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home Chapel on 528 South 3rd Street in McAlester, Oklahoma.

Then, on the following day, Wednesday, December 31, 2026, there will be a tribute to celebrate LaMarcus’s life starting at 12:00 in the afternoon at the Hartshorne Elementary Activity Center located at 862 North Cherokee in Hartshorne.

Lacey Arreola will officiate the service, and afterward, LaMarcus will be laid to rest at Bache Red Oak Cemetery in Bache, Oklahoma.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jarrod Holt, Chris Dunafan, Eddie Morris, Harold Meashintubby Jr., Harold “Boog” Meashintubby III, and Isaac Sieg. Honorary pallbearers include Noah Meashintubby, Byson Pope, Calvin Bryce, Dallas Herring, Nathan Herring, along with all of LaMarcus’s nephews and cousins, who meant so much to him.

During this challenging time, we pray for the strength of LaMarcus’s grandmother, parents, extended family, and friends.
