Anthony Mesa was a senior outfielder from Miami, Florida, who played for Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in 2009 after transferring from Broward Community College.

He started 39 of FAU’s 56 games, hitting .290 with 40 hits, 30 runs scored, and two home runs while maintaining a .988 fielding percentage as a solid defensive player.

Mesa had standout performances, including a four-hit game against Stony Brook and a strong series against Louisiana-Lafayette, where he hit his first home run.

Before FAU, he earned second-team all-conference honors at Broward CC, hitting .339 with 44 runs scored in 2008.

Likewise, in high school at G. Holmes Braddock, Mesa was a three-time all-state outfielder and also excelled in football.

Miguel Migs Abello, his friend, took to his Facebook to write a tribute post, which reads:

Anthony Mesa you will missed brother but never forgotten! Fly high Mesa! Crown apple shots for you today brother.

Thus far, details about Mesa’s funeral and memorial services have yet to be published.

During this difficult time, we pray for the strength of Mesa’s wife, friends, and extended family.

Rest In Heavenly Peace, Anthony Mesa!
