In the early hours of December 14, 2026, what should have been a joyful drive home for the Christmas holidays turned into a nightmare for Hank Newman, a promising young lacrosse goalie and Texas native.

The 2026 graduate of Cedar Park High School was involved in a horrific car accident on his way back from Tarleton State University, leading to severe injuries that required him to be airlifted to the ICU at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.

As friends, family, and teammates rally around him, the community is coming together to support his recovery, showing the resilience and spirit that have defined Hank’s life both on and off the field.

Hank, Texas native and proudly represented Cedar Park High School as a defensive end for the Timberwolf football team and goalie for the lacrosse squad, has always been known for his athletic prowess and dedication.

Now a student at Tarleton State University, where he continues to shine as the goalie for the club’s lacrosse team, he was majoring in business and looking forward to a bright future. But that morning’s accident changed everything in an instant.

According to reports from those close to him, Hank suffered multiple serious injuries, including a broken right femur, broken ribs and sternum, and a dislocated left hip.

He underwent surgery that same night and, while alert and able to speak with his family before the procedure, he now faces a challenging path ahead.

Beau Barksdale, a friend who shared details on Facebook, noted that Hank is in stable condition but emphasized the long road to recovery that lies before him.

Many loved ones have shared messages about Hank. They remember his positive attitude and how he clearly recalls details of the wreck. This shows he is mentally sharp despite the physical trauma he has experienced.

Aron Kwan, another close acquaintance, urged others to join in prayer, describing the extent of Hank’s injuries and his alertness before surgery:

“Please join us in praying for our own Hank Newman. He was in a car wreck today on his way home from college that resulted in him being airlifted to Harris Methodist in Fort Worth. Hank has suffered numerous broken bones in his lower legs, especially left leg. He has a broken right femur, broken ribs & sternum, and left hip was out of socket. He had surgery tonight and is currently recovering. Prior to surgery he was alert and talking to his family and remembers the wreck.”

The support has been immense, with friends and teammates celebrating Hank as a kind and inspiring person.

Rafa Valiente called him “our dear friend” and encouraged contributions to help with medical and rehabilitation costs, while Myles Russell described him as “one of the finest young men out there” who now has a long journey ahead, asking for prayers if donations aren’t possible.

Even the Rangers Lacrosse organization, where Hank is an alum, extended their thoughts:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Rangers alum Hank Newman and his family. Hank was involved in a horrible car accident earlier today as he was coming home for the holidays and is in stable condition but has a long road to recovery.”

In response to the mounting medical expenses, Hank’s teammates at Tarleton have taken proactive steps by launching a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $16,000.

The page’s message captures the community’s spirit:

“If you cannot donate, please share and keep the Newman family in your prayers. Thank you to all who can support or help them, God bless y’all.”

This initiative shows the tight-knit bond within the lacrosse world and the broader Texas community, where acts of solidarity like this help families navigate unexpected hardships.

As Hank begins his recovery at Harris Methodist Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family and the prayers of many.

While the accident has sidelined him for now, those who know Hank are confident in his fighting spirit, the same one that made him a standout on the lacrosse field.

Updates on his progress are expected as he heals, and in the meantime, the focus remains on rallying resources to ease the burden on the Newman family during this difficult time.

For anyone moved to help, the GoFundMe page stands as a direct way to contribute to his journey back to health and the game he loves.
