Melanie Kidd, the mother of former Cactus High School football QB Myron, recently shared a post explaining how her son was benched and disrespected by coaches.

In the pots, she explains why her family decided to move Myron out of the school after years of loyalty to the program.

Kidd said the decision was not made lightly. Myron comes from a deep Cactus High School football legacy.

His father, uncles, siblings, and cousins all played for the school. Five of her children have attended the campus, and another family member currently attends a feeder school.

Kidd described the move as the loss of a family legacy.

In the post, the mother shared a powerful memory of Myron receiving a photo from his third-grade teacher.

The photo was saved for years by himteacher, knowing he would one day step onto the Cactus football field.

Kidd said this moment reflected Myron’s character, dedication, and love for the game.

Despite this, Kidd said Myron was repeatedly overlooked by the varsity coaching staff.

She stated that he is a talented athlete who can play quarterback, safety, and corner.

According to her, Myron worked hard at practice, maintained good discipline, and has no discipline record in the Peoria district, where he has been enrolled since preschool.

Kidd said Myron was rarely given playing time, even after being promised opportunities that never came.

She described how he was passed over in favor of players who had only recently joined the program.

Additionally, she further added that coaches often did not speak to him, leaving him feeling ignored and disrespected.

She emphasized that this was not about wanting a starting position. She said it was about dignity, fairness, and basic respect.

Kidd shared how painful it was to watch her son slowly lose his passion for football while still showing up every week with a positive attitude.

According to Kidd, teammates, parents, students, and even opposing teams questioned why Myron was not playing.

She said the lack of exposure may have hurt his chances of getting college attention.

In the end, Kidd said she chose to protect her son’s mental and emotional well-being.

Following her post, many in the comments expressed their support and praised Melanie’s son, with one user saying;

Your son is an amazing athlete and an even better person. He deserves so much respect! I knew it!!! Our family already felt the vibe!!

While many expressed their sorrow and support, in the end, Melanie said that sometimes you have to choose yourself, even when it means walking away from a legacy.
