Zakeyah Harvey took to her Facebook to share an incident that speaks volumes about how adults sometimes treat kids in public places.

According to what she wrote, she was shopping in a Walmart over in Mason, Georgia, when she saw something that really bothered her and made her call it one of the most disgusting things she had ever witnessed.

Zakeyah described the whole situation in her post, saying there was this young kid who spotted what seemed to be his coach, or might be a school teacher, or maybe just from a recreational sports team, inside the store.

Upon seeing the person, the child seemed genuinely excited about running into him there outside of school or practice.

The boy went up and said hey to the coach and even called him by his name, just like any happy kid would do when they see someone they know and look up to.

But instead of smiling back or saying hello in return, the coach turned around and sharply asked the child

Did you just call my name out like that?

Then, the coach added something about whether that was something they do, before shaking his head and walking off without another word.

Zakeyah mentioned she wasn’t completely sure if the coach was the kid’s school teacher or maybe just from a recreational sports team, but either way, it struck her as wrong for an adult in that kind of position to brush off a child’s innocent greeting so coldly right there in the middle of the store.

She pointed out in her post that the coach acted really rudely, or what she called “boogie,” and that the whole exchange felt like the man was publicly shaming the little boy for no good reason at all.

Many who read her post agreed with her, commenting that kids should feel safe and respected when they approach their coaches or teachers, especially when they’re just trying to be friendly.

Faye Andrews Cooper expressed anger, writing, “That’s crazy of that grown man 😡

Whereas, Kayla McDaniels wrote, “that doesn’t even make sense.. just say hey back wtf. poor baby.
