The Derry, New Hampshire, community is mourning the death of Officer Brian Landry, a beloved figure who served as a school resource officer at Pinkerton Academy and West Running Brook Middle School.

Known for his compassion, fairness, and dedication to students, Officer Landry’s passing marks a deep loss for both his department and the countless lives he touched.

Anthony Henry, who had known Officer Landry during his years at Pinkerton and West Running Brook, expressed deep sorrow over his passing.

He cared about the students and wanted to see them be the best version of themselves,” Henry shared.

“He treated all students with respect and fairness while maintaining the dedication to justice that every police officer should have.”

Landry’s impact reached beyond law enforcement. He actively participated in school events and worked closely with students, earning their admiration and trust.

His presence made a difference in the school community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and service.

Brian Landry’s journey took a difficult turn in August 2026, when he was diagnosed with a rare form of bladder cancer.

Despite his diagnosis, Landry showed incredible strength and courage.

He underwent multiple treatments and surgeries, continuing to face each challenge with resilience and hope.

As his condition progressed, he stepped away from his duties at the Derry Police Department to focus on his health.

His wife, Courtney, stood by his side throughout the battle, supported by their two sons, Tyson and Jake, and a compassionate community that rallied around them.

In late 2026, after undergoing chemotherapy and surgery, Landry briefly returned to work as a school resource officer.

However, his health began to decline again, and he made the difficult decision to retire early to prioritize his recovery and family time.

Messages of grief and remembrance have poured in from friends, family, and colleagues.

The group NH Back the Blue wrote,

“Our hearts weigh heavy today for the loss of an amazing friend and colleague. May you rest easy, Brian Landry, and know that you’ll forever be remembered.”

Michael Landry, a close friend, also shared heartfelt words:

“Brian showed amazing strength and courage throughout his illness. He taught us how to stay strong and never quit. He will be missed by all of us and will remain in my heart for the rest of my life.”

Officer Brian Landry will be remembered not only for his commitment to justice but also for his compassion, humility, and unwavering dedication to helping others.

His influence on students, colleagues, and neighbors will continue to resonate throughout the community.

As Derry mourns the loss of one of its finest, residents are keeping Officer Landry’s family in their thoughts and prayers, honoring a man who truly embodied the spirit of service, courage, and kindness.
