A man named Omar Fall shared a video on Facebook showing kids getting off a school bus in Midland Park. He wrote that he doesn’t see any black children in sight anymore.
In his own words, he wrote, “Not one black child gets off the bus anymore in Midland Park.“
He said the Migos have pushed black families out of what used to be their neighborhoods and communities.
In no time, the post started getting traction, and many shared their opinions quickly.
People shared feelings about losing community spaces, worries over immigration policies, and how neighborhoods shift when new groups move in. While some saw it as a replacement or competition for jobs and housing, hurting black residents. Others call it normal change or even good for the area.
Some people agreed with him and felt the same way. One person talked about coming home and seeing how things changed, like the barber shop and the gas station near the church, now run by others.
when I come home…They done took over the barber shop…The gas station next to the church…
FacebookAnother mentioned how things have changed in specific spots like Liberty Hill, Russaldale, and 10 Mile, writing:
I bout fell out when I seen liberty hill …hopefully the black community has moved to bigger better more prosperous
FacebookOmar Fall came back with a reply, telling her it was just wishful thinking; however, he pointed to the truth that the black families have scattered all over, and the old areas feel taken over.
A few folks suggested calling ICE to report people, and others just said it was sad or straight facts.
Omar kept replying to people, explaining his view that the Democratic Party opened the border, and immigrants came right into black communities, driving up prices so low-income black people could not stay.
He said landlords pack multiple families into houses, raise rents, and push everyone else out.
He also brought up benefits he thinks were given to illegal immigrants from tax dollars, and how Democrats talk about black and brown unity, but he feels brown people don’t really stand with black people.
In one reply, Omar got heated and used strong language against someone who disagreed, saying he has tough skin and supports Trump and ICE doing their job.
However, not everyone went along with it. Some comments pointed out the danger of posting a video of children, showing their bus stop and neighborhood, because it could put kids at risk.
Not only did she say it is wrong to film kids, but it is totally wrong to comment on their race.
Another person noted how violent crime went down, and yards look better now.
Someone brought up that twenty years ago, white people said the same things about black folks moving in, and things just change over time. The comment reads:
What I will say though, taking a video of CHILDREN at a bus stop- especially while commenting on their race, it’s just plain wrong.
FacebookOmar responded to a few more, saying he is doing well himself, worth over a million, in the top percentage, making good money, but he speaks up for other black people who he thinks vote against their own interests. He doubled down on wanting deportations to happen fast under Trump, saying it would beat records from before.
