The Pascagoula, Mississippi, community is mourning the tragic loss of 26-year-old Hunter Allen Boyd Torjusen, who died on November 27, 2026.
Hunter was known for his warm smile, kind nature, and dedication to loved ones and patients, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Born on October 5, 1999, Hunter was the son of Richard and Debbie Torjusen and Vincent Jackson.
He grew up surrounded by a large, loving family that included his siblings Carlye, Greyson, Julian, Linda, and Anthony.
Those who knew the Torjusen-Jackson clan say Hunter and his brother Greyson were especially close; Greyson was not just a brother but Hunter’s best friend and constant companion.
A proud alumnus of Resurrection Catholic School in Pascagoula, Hunter graduated with the Class of 2018.
On the soccer field, he was a force wearing the #19 jersey as a midfielder and forward for the Eagles’ varsity team.
His passion for the game never faded.
After earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi in the fall of 2026, Hunter returned to his alma mater this year as an assistant coach, eager to give back to the program that had given him so much.
By day, Hunter worked as a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Springhill Medical Center in Mobile.
Colleagues describe him as the kind of nurse every patient hopes for, calm under pressure, genuinely compassionate, and always ready with a joke to lighten the heaviest moments.
Outside of work and coaching, Hunter lived a whole and joyful life.
He was never happier than when he was out on the water boating, piecing together an elaborate new Lego set, playing with his dogs, or simply hanging out with family and friends.
His laugh was contagious, his hugs were legendary, and his loyalty ran deep.
News of Hunter’s death spread quickly through social media and group texts, leaving the tight-knit Pascagoula community in shock.
