What started as a stomach bug after a brutal hit in football practice on September 22, 2026, quickly turned into a fight for Myles Chambers’ life.
The preschooler from Concord, Virginia, began vomiting and complaining of severe belly and hip pain. After days of worsening symptoms, his parents took him to urgent care on September 25.
Doctors first suspected appendicitis, but an ultrasound couldn’t find his appendix. Instead, they discovered a massive tumor that had consumed his right kidney and filled much of his abdomen.

On September 30, surgeons removed his right kidney and a 6-by-6-inch tumor weighing nearly two pounds after a four-hour-long operation.
By October 1, the family posted that the surgery went well and that Myles was resting and recovering well.
Unfortunately, the reports were shocking for the whole Chamber family and Appomattox Raiders Youth Football Community as the Pathology returned a sobering diagnosis: Stage 3 anaplastic diffuse Wilms tumor, a rare and aggressive form of pediatric kidney cancer.
Countless Prayers For Myles Chambers
On October 17, Myles began chemotherapy, a 40-week plan of weekly treatments, scans, and hospital stays at UVA as doctors work to shrink any remaining disease and stop the spread.
Despite going through it all, Myles has been described by his family and caregivers as tough, so much so that hospital staff nicknamed him “Mighty Myles.”
Less than two weeks after surgery, he was back at the field—not to play, but to sprint out with teammates and cheer them on, the family says—a small but powerful moment that showed his spirit and resilience.

They thanked the community for the outpouring of messages. They said faith is central to how they’re coping: “We believe in the POWER OF PRAYER,” they wrote, and asked people to keep Myles, the medical team, and their family uplifted.
Family friend Christy Marker of Concord organized a GoFundMe to help cover travel, lodging, medical bills, and daily expenses while he undergoes treatment.
The current goal is around $2k, and the family will appreciate any amount or even payers from any individual’s side.
Ryan Ashburn wrote, “Please say a prayer for one of Quinn’s good friends, Myles Chambers, and his family. He is such a fun and sweet dude. We thank you in advance!”
A GofundMe campaign has started to assist the Preschooler. (Source: Facebook)Vicky Frazier added, “I’m praying for Myles and his medical team. Praying for the parents Michael and Rachel as you navigate through this journey. I pray for you to experience God’s peace. I pray the same for Myles.”
Myles has already received numerous donations and, most importantly, hundreds of prayers from his football community, parents, friends, and relatives.
