Anchorage Police Seek Victims in Richard Lee Cramer Sexual Abuse Investigation: Former Youth Sports Coach Charged

Youth Sports Coach Richard Lee Cramer, 72, was arrested on December 19, 2026, following his indictment the previous day.

The Anchorage Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit (CACU) charged him with multiple counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Cramer worked in Alaska’s restaurant, hospitality, and recreation industries and volunteered as a youth sports coach.

He is a former Pennsylvania resident who relocated to Alaska in the late 1970s.

Recently, he has been at the center of a wide‑ranging investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse.

Public Reaction Erupts Over Richard Lee Cramer’s Sexual Abuse Case, Highlighting Betrayal of Trust

According to police records, former coach Cramer faces one count of Attempted Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree and seven counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree.

Investigators have linked him to multiple reported victims across APD cases 23‑36329 and 25‑17115, and they also assisted the Homer Police Department in a related case.

Victims described experiences of exploitation tied to his positions of trust in community and youth settings.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.

This shows the seriousness of the charges and the long‑term impact on those affected.

Public reaction on social media has been intense regarding this case, where a man in a trustworthy position, working in hospitality, recreation, and even youth sports coaching, now faces serious allegations of sexual abuse.

One former employee recalled:

THIS IS MY OLD BOSS I WORKED UNDER HIM FOR TWO YEARS AT H2O HE ALWAYS WANTED ME TO BEING MY NEWBORN SON INTO WORK AND HE WOULD WATCH OTHER EMPLOYEES CHILDREN ALONG WITH HIS GRANDDAUGHTER.

Another commenter described him as someone who likely spent his entire life molesting children, adding:

Likely spent his entire life molesting children..Who knows what he has done since 1970. The amount of victims through out the years that was reported and nothing was done. Prolific Child predators will leach on children that are dealing with a lot of emotional experiences growing up..Often perhaps had issues with discipline making them the most vulnerable where if reported there are issues regarding the victims integrity is questioned while he maintains a public image of trust ability being in positions around children or teenagers. Perhaps part of his cover to maintain his trustworthy identity went to church, volunteering for public or school events.

In this case I happy agree to remove his male gentilia and botex his lips and send him on a prisoner exchange program visiting the most violent prisons both in and abroad.

A third person noted,

This man managed H2 Oasis Water park… filled with children everyday, and worse employed kids as young as 14 or 15… I hope the investigators know that as well.

Others expressed outrage at his age and alleged history, with one writing,

This is sick at 72yrs old! Just imagine how many victims he may have here but also in Pennsylvania! He will die in prison! Hope they throw the key away as he is far from rehabilitation!! These are the people who should rot or even death penalty!

As the Anchorage Police are urging people to come forward with information, many in the community believe there may be more victims connected to Richard Lee Cramer.

This type of case sucks as it involves a person in a trusted position exploiting that role, leaving lasting harm on victims, and shaking community confidence.
