Mary Jo Kulig from Rutland, Massachusetts, shared her feelings on Facebook about her daughter, Isabella, a girl with simple dreams.
Isabella just wanted to play soccer with her team, attend school with her siblings and friends, and enjoy high school like any other teenager.
However, at Leicester High School, that dream turned into a nightmare due to nonstop harassment from Leicester School.
The bullying was cruel and constant. Kids shouted Isabella’s name across the school grounds. They followed her every day through hallways, courtyards, and buildings.
She faced rude gestures in class, at pick-up and drop-off, and even during football and soccer games.
In the cafeteria, during breakfast and lunch, she got intimidating stares that made her freeze.
This wasn’t just teasing. It was stalking. It was harassment. And it happened everywhere, every day.
Isabella felt trapped. She had to stay alert at all times. The fear and sadness built up inside her. To survive, she started hiding who she really was.
Her bright, joyful personality faded. Every morning before walking through the school gate, she told herself, “If you blend in, they will be nice. Just act normal.” A teenage girl should never have to repeat that to herself to feel safe.
Mary Jo was heartbroken. She called Isabella exceptional, an outgoing, happy girl forced to shrink herself to avoid cruelty.
As a mother, she wanted to protect her daughter, but she couldn’t be there every moment. In her post, she spoke directly to the bully:
“Open your heart to her. You might find joy in her light. Maybe then you’ll see the amazing young woman who’s been right in front of you.”
Via FacebookIt was a plea, not just for Isabella, but for the bully’s own humanity.
But words weren’t enough. The Leicester School harassment went on too long. The school failed to stop it.
They couldn’t, or wouldn’t, protect Isabella. So the family made a tough choice. They left Leicester behind and enrolled her at Wachusett High School.
The change has been slow, but it’s real. Isabella’s spark is coming back. She’s starting to smile again.

When Pamela DeBoise read the post, she was furious at the school. She wrote:
“How shameful of the school district!!!!! Prayers for sweet Isabella! Keep being you honey, you’re beautiful and smart and strong and someone is obviously green with envy!!! Chin up and stand proud!!!”
Via FacebookHer words echoed what so many felt: anger at the failure, and love for a girl who deserved better.
This story isn’t just about one girl. It’s a warning. Leicester School harassment robbed Isabella of her joy for too long.
No child should have to dim their light to survive school. Wachusett gave her a fresh start, but the damage from Leicester lingers.
Every school must do better. Every parent, teacher, and student must stand up because no one should have to “blend in” just to be safe.
