The Kingsville Texas Youth Football League, home of the Kingsville Brahmas, recently revealed that $9,385 was stolen from its Cash App account by a former board member during the past season.
The league confirmed that this significant loss directly affected the resources and opportunities available to its young players, creating an unfair situation for both parents and participants.
In a statement addressing the community, the league said,
“To all of our Brahma family, and to any parents who had concerns throughout the season regarding why certain things were limited for our boys and girls, we want to address the situation openly and honestly. Although this has placed our organization in a hardship, we remain Brahma Strong. We will continue to run this league with integrity, dignity, and pride as we work to rebuild and move forward.”
FacebookThe league also confirmed that the Kingsville Police Department is investigating the matter to ensure proper handling and resolution.
Officials emphasized that transparency with the community remains a priority and reassured parents and supporters that the league intends to recover and continue providing for its players.
The revelation raised concerns among parents and community members.
One parent, Tiffany Avalos, shared frustration over registration payments, saying,
“Well no wonder I got a call that my whole amount from registration wasn’t paid… I was told I got a ‘discount’ but then made to pay more.”
FacebookOthers questioned the league’s financial practices. Tommy Lê commented,
“Why did you as an organization keep that amount of money on an unsecured platform like Cash App?”
FacebookDespite the setback, the Kingsville Brahmas remain committed to their mission of supporting young athletes and fostering community pride.
The league thanked supporters for their understanding and trust, promising to implement stronger financial safeguards in the future.
As they plan for the next season, they aim to rebuild both resources and confidence in the organization.
