In May, softball player Mike Wassemiller reported that his locked hotel room at Circus Circus Reno was broken into by two strangers who walked out carrying his softball bag and equipment valued at over $4,000.

Despite security photos showing the suspects leaving with his belongings, the hotel refused to compensate or replace the stolen items.

Beyond the financial loss, Mike highlighted the devastating emotional impact of losing irreplaceable memorabilia.

Among the items were a bat belonging to his late friend Greg Pellegrini and a one-off tribute Miken bat from the 2015 Tournament of Champions.

A Softball Player Lost His Valuable Equipment From A Locked Room At Circus Circus Reno Hotel!

Mike took to Facebook with an urgent warning to the softball community, posting:

“⚠️ URGENT SOFTBALL AND COMMUNITY WARNING! DO NOT TRUST CIRCUS CIRCUS RENO! ⚠️”

He detailed the theft, the absence of hallway security cameras, and the hotel’s refusal to take responsibility. Also, he urged others not to trust the hotel’s security measures.

His post focused on both the financial and sentimental losses. Further, he stressed how the hotel’s negligence betrayed the softball family that had supported them for decades.

Mike concluded his message by asking the community to share his story widely, saying:

They clearly do not value the softball family that has supported them for decades, please help and share this with your circles ..thank you!

People quickly shared their views in the comments, highlighting their own frustrations and suspicions.

The clerk informed them and is in on it. They knew the room, what they were after, and that you weren’t there.

Another shared their perspective, saying:

I know it doesn’t replace the sentimental items but I sure hope after all this time, their lack of cooperation, etc.. that something big comes to fruition out of all of this.

Likewise, another person shared a similar incident at the hotel, with one stating:

My Fiancé’s purse got stolen from her lap at the slots on the casino floor there too. With all those cameras they didn’t even try to go back and see if they could find out who did it. Circus Circus is sketch.

The above case shows the negligence of the hotel and the serious shortcomings in guest security and accountability.

Despite clear evidence of strangers walking out with stolen property, the hotel refused to compensate or take responsibility.
