Nerylix Cerda was a steady and energetic contributor to The College of New Jersey softball program, developing into a dependable presence throughout her Lions career.
Hailing fron North Bergen, New Jersey, and a graduate of High Tech High School, Cerda balanced her athletic commitment with academic success as a Mathematics major, showing dedication both in the classroom and on the field.
She began her collegiate journey in 2014, appearing in 21 games and becoming a trusted pinch-runner.
Her speed and instincts on the bases allowed her to score six runs, often giving TCNJ an edge in close contests.
In 2015, she expanded her role, earning 15 starts in the outfield across 24 games.
That season marked several milestones: her first collegiate hit against SUNY Oneonta, a strong 2-for-3 performance with a double at Stockton University, and a memorable 3-for-3 game that included her first career home run in a 6-0 victory over Plymouth State.
During the 2016 season, she scored 10 runs in 21 appearances and contributed an essential run in an NCAA regional win over Manhattanville College.

According to sources, former softball player Nerylix Cerda passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2026, at the age of 30.
Bianca Arroyo, who studied Criminal Justice at Rutgers University-Newark, took to her official Facebook handle to announce the tragic news. She wrote,
On Wednesday, November 26, 2026, at approximately 1200, I got the call that you were gone. I truly thought it wasn’t real. I truly believed that I was being lied to. I truly was in disbelief. I just spoke to you. We were literally saying how proud we were of each other. We just chilled not too long ago. I still have our convos. I still feel like we are going to have our godly convos, our laughs, our life updates, and always letting each other know we are here for one another.
Nery, you are love and light. You gave us all love where it was felt. You gave us light with that smile that takes up the whole room. I met you my junior year of high school in 2008 and you were just a freshman. (17) years later still here, still always love, and still always the light. Nery you a part of the journey I been on and always reminded me how great of person I am and to never stop my growth.
This one hurts sis, but you are in my heart, you will forever be a part of me, you are my sister, and now you are my angel. Give my welo and wela a big hug for me. It’s not a goodbye, but a see you later.
